Glimpse
A search-data-led trend platform with absolute volume, monthly and yearly growth, related searches, channel breakdowns, alerts, seasonality, and trajectory analysis.
Glimpse adds search-volume, growth, related-query, tracking, and trajectory workflows. What's Happening is designed around a different unit of value: the technology observations attached to a transparent score.

Choose Glimpse when you need a working search-demand workflow with volume, related queries, tracking, and trajectory analysis. Consider What's Happening when technology-specific source evidence and explicit score weights are the priority. Its production feed and accounts are unavailable today.

At a glance
This page compares the workflow each product is built around. It does not claim feature parity.
A search-data-led trend platform with absolute volume, monthly and yearly growth, related searches, channel breakdowns, alerts, seasonality, and trajectory analysis.
An early-access approach designed to cluster official Hacker News, GitHub, and Google Trends RSS observations, expose the source trail, and publish its 45/35/20 scoring method.
Decision table
Competitor claims come from first-party sources. What's Happening claims reflect its verified production state.
| Axis | Glimpse | What's Happening | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovery model | Search-driven discovery across categories and user-defined niches. | Cluster official-source observations into inspectable technology trends. | Search-market exploration versus source-led technology discovery. |
| Primary evidence | Search-demand data enriched with related queries and channel signals. | Official Hacker News, GitHub, and Google Trends RSS observations by default. | Search depth versus a multi-source observation trail. |
| Measurement | Absolute search volume, growth, seasonality, channel context, and trajectory analysis. | A published 45/35/20 score for velocity, reach, and novelty. | Demand analysis versus one disclosed breakout score. |
| Monitoring | Topic tracking and alerts when followed search activity changes. | No production alerting or working account workflow today. | Use Glimpse when recurring tracking is required now. |
| Evidence trail | Related searches, topic maps, and channel context support exploration. | Designed to preserve direct observation links and the earliest usable country tag. | Query expansion versus inspecting the observations behind a cluster. |
| Current readiness | Established product with a public signup path and live product surfaces. | Public interface is live; production trend data and accounts are unavailable. | Use Glimpse for live search research today. |

Our difference
What's Happening is designed so a trend is not just a line moving up. The cluster retains the observations used to score it, the earliest usable country tag, and a short explanation of what changed.
That evidence path does not make the product a forecasting service, and it does not prove where an idea originated.

Current production limit
Production has no connected trend data service or authentication configuration. Trend results, source trails, accounts, and chat therefore cannot complete their real loop. The product reports that state directly instead of presenting fixtures as live activity.
Best fit
Glimpse
Use Glimpse when you need volume, growth, seasonality, related queries, and alerts around topics or niches you choose.
What's Happening
Follow What's Happening when source-linked technology evidence and an auditable score matter more than search-depth features. It is not a working substitute today.
FAQ
Google Trends is the direct public option for relative search interest, and Exploding Topics offers a prepared discovery database. What's Happening is designed for source-level technology evidence rather than deep search-volume analysis.
Glimpse centers search volume, growth, related queries, channels, tracking, and trajectory analysis. What's Happening centers technology observations from named official sources and a published velocity, reach, and novelty score.
No. It explains why a topic earned a breakout-watch score from observed signals. That score should not be read as a prediction.
Not yet. Its public interface is live, but production data and authentication are not connected. It does not replace the missing services with demo activity.
